Historical Information
The parent church body of Torbrook United Baptist Church was the Nictaux Baptist Church. In 1854, revival services created the need for a structure at Torbrook in which the church could meet. In 1861, the church at Torbrook was dedicated. In 1912 the church underwent renovations to add on a vestry to the original structure. Official ties remained with Nictaux until 1962 when the church organized itself into a separate body; however, until 2019 the Torbrook pastor was also the pastor at Nictaux.
Although the sanctuary of the church was originally decorated with tin, it has since been removed. The baptistry in the sanctuary is a key feature of the church, traditionally filled from an outside water source. The Torbrook congregation regularly meets in their vestry.
