Historical Information
Previous to the construction of the Victoria Beach Baptist Church in 1889, members met in a meetinghouse at Victoria Beach that had been constructed in 1864 to serve both as school and meetinghouse. At a quarterly business meeting of the Lower Granville Baptist Churches in October of 1885, Isaiah Wallace reported that the people of Victoria Beach were endeavoring to build a new church structure. Money was raised by the Women’s Sewing Circle, as well as through the sale of pews in June of 1889.The church was constructed under the supervision of Robert Tanch. The new Baptist meetinghouse was dedicated July 28, 1889. The pastor was Rev. W.L. Parker.
