Historical Information
Allen Gibson’s “Churches by the Sea” states that the church at Maitland Bridge developed along with Kempt after a revival had taken place in Queens County in 1808. In 1864 Maitland and Kempt separated to form independent congregations. In 1865 Pastor D. O. Parker was instructed to give one fifth of his time to the work at Maitland Bridge.
