Historical Information
In 1821 John Mayhew Bill gave land to build a church. The first church was a small building which stood from 1822 to 1872. In 1835 the Billtown Baptist Church joined the Baptist association. The next church building served the community from 1872 to 1903, at which time it was torn down to make way for the present church (2021). Charles Loomer of Coldbrook built the existing church in 1903. A large extension to the east end of the church container in Sunday school classrooms and the kitchen was added in 2012. Every July a strawberry supper is held to raise funds to preserve the church structure, In 2013, 770 people attended this fundraising event. The main church structure is in the shape of an āLā with the steeple being constructed in the corner of that L. In the gable end of the main church structure (just left of the steeple) is a large ornate medallion stain glass window. The steeple is four sided and contains dormers on the roof, and inside is a bell. Near the peak on the main structure is a circular medallion window. The midsection of the steeple appears to have had windows at one time, but these have now been covered over.
