Historical Information

Timberlea Baptist Church is situated lengthways beside the road. The main entrance to the building is positioned between the main sanctuary and recreational space. The main entrance contains two glass doors underneath a large protruding, roofed carport. Connected to the peak of this carport is a large wooden cross that faces the road. The building is covered in a light-colored vinyl siding, with black asphalt shingles on the roof. Both building materials appear to have been on the building for many years. A unique feature on the exterior of the building are the long and narrow white vinyl windows, which can be found on all sides of the structure. On the ‘L’ shaped portion of the building there is a small dormer, overlooking the parking lot.

The interior of the structure has lightly painted walls and carpet, and the most striking feature of the sanctuary must be the open ceiling, with rafter beams visible which are stained and natural wood. The building contains modern moveable seating which allows the spaces inside to be used for a multitude of events; this building does not have stationary pew seating.

The Timberlea Baptist Church has been a part of the Timberlea Community since its founding in the mid-twentieth century. Locally they are a part of the Halifax Regional United Baptist Association, regionally with about 450 churches across Atlantic Canada through the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada .
