Historical Information
Not unlike many of the other Baptist churches in Annapolis County prior to 1861, Middleton Baptist Church was formed as a result of the Nictaux Baptist Church. As a result of Nictaux’s wide-ranging influence, in 1861 a decision was made to divide the field to create smaller local congregations. In 1890 it was decided to construct a new building which would better fit their needs and the needs of the growing community. The new property was dedicated in 1894. In 1946 a disastrous fire destroyed part of the structure. Fortunately, the damage was not extensive and the structure was repaired by the time of the centennial service in 1961. From 1994-99 many upgrades were added to the building such as: a library, a parlour, a nursery, classrooms, a gymnasium, a wheelchair lift, and a prayer room.
