Historical Information

In 1950, on a parcel of land located east of the old Aldershot School, on the corner of Aldershot and McKittrick Roads, a military hut from Camp Aldershot was set up and was used by this congregation as a Baptist church. Mrs. Clayton Pearl gave lands in 1956 to be used for a permanent church site and M. L. Kinnie donated land for a parking lot. A parsonage was built in 1960 containing an auditorium, meeting areas, parlour, kitchen, Sunday School rooms, nursery, and choir rooms. The current structure (2021) was built in 1967 and would not have been completed if it were not for the leadership of Rev. Freeman Fenerty.

The church is constructed of red brick, common for the time, with a low-pitched roof, and windows and the front entrance on the gable end. The front doorway protrudes from the front of the main structure. There are three large, rectangular windows on the front of the structure. The builder for the church, built in 1967, was B. D. Stevens Inc using Shaw Brick. The clay used in the Shaw Brick was sourced in the Avonport area.
