Historical Information

The Baptist of 'Creek Village' or Lewisville, trace their roots to the fellowship of Baptists founded in 1828. On March 15, 1853, a group still meeting in the Free Meeting House decided to build a mission house in the Lewisville area.

The Lewisville Baptist Church became an autonomous church body in 1905 when First Baptist Church agreed to dismiss 104 members for the purpose of organizing the new church. In the same meeting, it was decided to transfer the Cherryfield property from First Baptist to the new Lewisville church. The association of Cherryfield and Lewisville continued until 1963.

The Lewisville church building was renovated and enlarged in 1906. In 1962 a Youth Centre was added, and a further extension was completed in the 1990s.

Lewisville is undertaking an extensive building project in 2021 to further modernise and expand its facilities.
