Historical Information
The first church services were held in the home of James Murphy, who later donated land for a building and cemetery in 1826. Construction on the church building was not started until 1904 and was completed in 1906.
The basement was added in 1950. In the summer of 1980, a building project resulted in four upstairs classrooms, an enlarged foyer, a nursery downstairs, and carpeting throughout.
In March 2004, vandals damaged the stained-glass windows in the church. Extensive work was done to restore them.
A devastating flood destroyed the church and much of the village on March 23, 2012. Attempts were made to salvage the church in preparation to reopen but the building was condemned. As a result, the church voted to build a new building on higher ground.
The stained-glass windows were saved and restored in preparation to be installed in the new building. The foundation was laid in August 2012, and the first service in the new church was December 23, 2012, exactly nine months following the flood.
