Historical Information
The Ludlow Baptist Church was organised in 1865, around which time the church structure was built. This building is typical for its time in terms of size and style. Like many Baptist churches in the mid-nineteenth century in Atlantic Canada, the main structure is built in the Gothic Revival style. The front facade of this structure is broken up into three bays, with the middle bay containing the protruding tower, with two gothic revival windows with eyebrow trims. A striking feature of this building are the return eaves on this gable end, and the fancy right-angle mouldings directly below the return eaves. his building has been altered over the course of its history. It appears that originally this church would have had a gothic revival style window on either side of the steeple in the outer bays; however, none are present. This building has had a large addition on the left side, which sits on a poured concrete foundation and has a lower entry. This part is not original. This addition appears to have altered the layout of the interior of the structure, and made the building footprint wider than it is long.
The building is now covered in white vinyl siding and a galvanised metal roof, both materials not original to the building's construction. Along with this, it appears that many of the church windows have been replaced with newer, vinyl windows.
It appears that the lower level of this new addition contains a recreational space and kitchen area, with the upper level being a possible sanctuary extension.
