Historical Information

Deep Brook United Baptist Church, also known as Clements West, is another church body that originally met in the local schoolhouse and was heavily influenced by the leadership of Israel Potter in its early stages. The Heritage Inventory Records of Annapolis County state that Union Hall Company obtained a deed in 1878 to build a two-storey structure with a Temperance Hall on the second level. The ground level was available for public use. The space was shared by the Clements West Baptist Church and the local Anglican church until around 1881 when the Anglican church obtained the own structure. Although the Baptist congregation continued to use the structure, it was not until 1918 that they formally purchased it from the Union Hall Co. In 1919 the original structure was remodeled and later an extension was added to the rear of the building.
