Historical Information
Before the structure was erected at Phinney Cove, its congregation worshipped and held their membership with the Hampton United Baptist Church. Phinney Cove remained a preaching station for Hampton for many years. The Heritage Inventory Project of Annapolis County indicates that John Grant, George Hudson, and Joseph Banks were the trustees appointed at the public meeting held at Phinney Cove on April 20, 1886. It was decided shortly after that a building would be erected to be used as a Baptist meetinghouse and Temperance-Hall. A week later, the land was purchased from Frank L. Chute. The deed for the property cites the Phinney Cove Baptist Church as the original owner from 1886 onward. Although inactive throughout the year, the church at Phinney Cove holds an annual service.
