Historical Information

As with many of the Baptist churches in Digby County, Enoch Towner figures prominently into the heritage of this church. In 1833, Rev. Charles Randall was ordained at Weymouth and extended his labours to Digby Joggins (Hillgrove). The house of worship was dedicated in 1837. The Church was formally organized in 1843. In 1850, this church was incorporated under the laws of the province. The name of the organization would be the Baptist Church of Digby Joggins in connection with the Nova Scotia Association of Baptist Churches. In 1921, renovations were undertaken upon the church structure, to the extent that the foundation was made secure and new windows were added. There was a formal service of re-dedication in 1921.
