In 1961, Brentwood United Baptist Church was formed. On January 25, 1966, the church building at the corner of Bessborough and Dickson Boulevard was dedicated. The men of the congregation completed much of the work themselves.
Over the years, membership fluctuated with a peak in 2000. From then onwards, numbers steadily dwindled. In 2003, efforts were made to modernize the sanctuary in order to attract a younger demographic, but numbers continued to fall. In 2007, conversations with Allison Baptist were in motion about the possibility of Brentwood becoming a second location.
In 2008, Brentwood United Baptist Church became a satellite of Allison Baptist. In 2013, the multi-site church was renamed The Journey Church and now has three campuses: Allison, Brentwood, and Riverview.
