Historical Information
The Baptist work in the west of Moncton began under the guidance of the Salisbury United Baptist Church. Meetings were held in the old schoolhouse at Sand Hill. On October 23, 1892 a house of worship was dedicated at Allison. This body of believers remained a part of the Salisbury church until May 14, 1919 when twenty-two people organized the Allison United Baptist Church.
For many years the church was on a multiple pastoral charge. In 1958 the church became self-supporting with its own pastor. The church building was enlarged in 1983 with a Christian Education wing.
In the mid-1990s an expansion project was completed, allowing space for 350 people in each service. By 2006, weekly attendance was edging steadily towards capacity. By 2008, more than 600 people were attending the three services offered.
That same year, in order to create space for a rapidly growing congregation, Allison Baptist Church began operating as a multi-site ministry with a campus in the Brentwood Baptist Church building.
By 2013 the church was renamed Journey Church and now has three sites: Allison, Brentwood, and Riverview.
