The church body in Bear River East had formed long before a structure was erected in 1898. In the wake of revival in 1810, a Baptist Church body was organized in the Township of Clements. Again, there was an outpouring and excitement led by the Holy Spirit in 1822-1823. When it came time to build a structure, it was considered an ecumenical project between the Baptists and Methodists. In 1898, a union church was built on the grounds of the old town schoolhouse. The building officially opened for service in 1899.
Renovations of the old building and the construction of a new sanctuary began in 2020.
